Follow the construction of Arne Quinze’s latest sculpture, RED BEACON, in Shanghai, China, on www.arnequinze.asia.
With every installation Arne Quinze constructs he’s trying to revive the spirit of social interaction. RED BEACON draws the attention of the crowd passing by and lures it into the park. In the calming environment of he trees people sit down and enjoy the sculpture while being amazed by its red energetic color, shape and story. It acts as a new beacon in the city becoming an important step to the urban cultural improvement of Shanghai where people meet and communicate freely.
RED BEACON is placed in the Jing’an Sculpture Park, the pioneer of presenting public art in the heart of Shanghai located downtown in the Jing’an District. From September 1st the sculpture will be open to the public.
Jing’an Sculpture Park is part of the Jing’an International Sculpture Project (JISP), a first top-level governmental public art event in Shanghai, even in China, organized by the People’s Government of Jing’an District and the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination. Purple Roof Art Gallery is in charge of the planning of this event.
